R/C News: Redcat Racing Hires Former Axial Vice President Jeff Johns

Johns to assume the role of Redcat Racing President and oversee the company’s day-to-day leadership.

About a week ago, Jeff Johns announced his departure from Axial, a company, and brand that he co-founded back in 2005. It didn’t take long for Jeff to find his way to another R/C brand, as Redcat Racing has announced he will be their new company President.

From Redcat Racing:

Redcat Racing the premier source for quality gas, nitro and electric powered RC vehicles, today announced that the company has hired Jeff Johns as company President.  As President, Jeff will assume responsibility of all day to day leadership of the company.

Jeff is a 20-year veteran in the hobby grade remote control industry.  He began his career in the hobby industry in 1998 with HPI and then in 2005 was founder, co-owner and President/CEO of Axial, a manufacturer of high end RC products and accessories.  Under Jeff’s leadership he grew the company’s product offering and developed a successful international brand which was acquired by Hobbico in early 2012 and continued on as Vice President of Axial R/C Inc. until joining the Redcat team.

“For nearly two decades, Jeff has built an impressive track record of strategic, operational and international brand development in the RC industry,“ said Darin Oreman, CEO/Founder of Redcat Racing.  “He has a proven to be a successful and trusted leader and brings to this position a strong reputation for developing quality RC products, people and brand loyalty. His wealth of experience across the industry and internationally, will be a valuable asset as we continue to accelerate the growth of Redcat as a worldwide leader in the hobby industry. “

“I am honored and excited to start this amazing new adventure and look forward to working with Darin and the Redcat team” said Jeff Johns.

While this news is still fresh, I feel it’s a huge opportunity for both parties. Redcat Racing is looking to roll into 2019 with some solid momentum around the release of their GEN8 Scout II and there’s no denying the experience that Jeff brings to the table. Putting those ingredients together, this makes Redcat Racing a must-watch brand as we head into the new year (and beyond).
