Beware the Wendigo! Redcat Racing Posts Cryptic Teaser Images for a New Model

By: Tim Gluth

Oh, Redcat Racing, you folks sure know how to kick off the weekend. Flicking through my Facebook feed earlier tonight, I came across an interesting post from the AZ R/C crew:

Cool picture, right? But what does it mean? If you remember back to last fall (2019), Redcat Racing kicked off their GEN8 AXE Edition teasers with a harmless illustration...is this following that same path?

My first question about this illustration was, "what is that thing". That "thing", appears to be a Wendigo. This charming creature is referred to as an evil, flesh-eating creature born from the lore of Algonquian tribes. Cool, right?

After seeing this post, my mind is now racing with thoughts of what this might be? Redcat Racing seems to have their bases covered in the scale/trail/crawler scene and they've just launched an eighth-scale monster truck in Kaiju. What other areas of the hobby could they be trying to cover?

Whatever it is, I'm along for the ride. If you want to chime in on the conversation or stay on top of future teases, stay tuned to the Redcat Racing Facebook page.

Update 3/1/20: Another teaser post reveals a bit more...

Things are heating up on the Redcat Racing Facebook page. After their Friday night thriller, another cryptic teaser image has been posted, revealing a bit more about a possible new model release.

Our buddy Windigo is still in the picture, but taking center stage is a photobomb by a rock bouncer-styled machine. An exposed cab cage, a helmet-wearing navigator, and a blue paneled exterior are among the highlights of this image.

This is getting good, folks!

Update 3/2/20: Wendigo lives! Redcat Racing took the wraps off of their latest release, a 1/10-scale, 2.2"-wheeled, brushless-powered rock racer. Learn more about the beast at redcat racing.com.
