Two new 1/18th-scale models from ECX
Since I'm looking at adding another 1/18th scale machine (possibly another ECX Smash) for my oldest son to tinker with, I've been keeping an eye out for lower-cost vehicles that can take a little punishment. After seeing how "my" Smash has held up to some, ahem, student driving, I'm excited to see the news that ECX has announced two new 1/18 models.
While they have their bases covered with 1/10 and 1/8-scale offerings, their only small-scale machine, up to this point, has been the Smash. Today ECX announced 1/18th-scale versions of their Ruckus Monster Truck (4x4) and Torment Short Course Truck (4x4).
At first glance, these new vehicles look to pack a lot of punch for a low cost:
- Dynamite® 380 brushed motor
- 2.4ghz radio system
- Waterproof receiver and esc
- Priced at $99 each
- Available in mid-October 2013
Having seen how ECX machines hold up to rough driving, these are great options if you're looking to get into the hobby with a minimal investment.
