See it in Action: The New Bright R/C DashCam Jeep TrailCat

By: Tim Gluth

After testing the New Bright DashCam indoors, we thought it was time to take this machine outside to see if it could tackle the great outdoors.

We set up a short log obstacle "course" to drive over and also took it for a spin around the yard in some medium-length grass. Outside of the New Bright Track Attack, the grass-driving capabilities of this machine are some of the best that I've seen (for a toy-grade R/C truck).

Along with being very capable on grass and natural turf, the New Bright DashCam handled most of our log obstacle setup with ease. The forward/reverse and steering controls aren't proportional, so you're all-in when it comes to throttle and turning response. That said, I was able to mimic some "technical" crawl attempts by "blipping" the throttle in short bursts to slow my forward momentum.

At full-speed this machine would fly over the logs, save for two on each end that were too high for the steering linkage to clear. In all, this has been a fun vehicle to drive and push to its limits.
