DJI Mavic 2 Zoom & Mavic 2 Pro Quadcopters
DJI has announced the follow-up models to their original DJI Mavic, and both feature a number of enhancements over their predecessor.
The first of the two models is the Mavic 2 Zoom which, as the name implies, carries with it a few zooming video and photography features. Capable of performing "dolly zooms" as well as a 2x optical zoom, this quadcopter is great for capturing action and scenery from unique angles, while still getting a close view of the action.
Other highlights of the Mavic 2 Zoom include 48MP photo quality, 4x lossless zoom video, among others. As with the original DJI Mavic Pro, the frame of the DJI Mavic 2 Zoom (and Pro) is foldable, allowing it to be made conveniently smaller for transport and storage.
When collapsed down in storage and transport mode, the Mavic 2 (Zoom and Pro) measures to 214mm long, 91mm wide, and 84mm tall, which isn't bad considering what's packed inside of this quadcopter.
If you're serious about your aerial photography, then you may want to take a look at the Mavic 2 Pro. Using the same chassis design and details as the Mavic 2 Zoom, the Pro features an improved Hasselblad camera, 1" CMOS sensor, an adjustable aperture, 10-bit HDR video, and more.
No matter how skilled you may be at flying, the Mavic 2 offers a number of pilot-assist features to help you focus on capturing footage as opposed to keeping the quadcopter in the air. Obstacle avoidance and GPS flight mode are just two of these conveniences that, when paired with a 31-minute estimated flight time, should make for a very enjoyable experience.
The controllers for each Mavic 2 model are identical and feature a twin-stick controller design. When you mount your smartphone to the controller, you gain additional FPV ability, as well as in-flight monitoring features and readouts.
The DJI Mavic 2 Zoom is priced at $1,249.00, while the Mavic 2 Pro is priced slightly higher, at $1,449.00. If you're looking for a fully-immersive FPV experience, you can add DJI Goggles RE to each quadcopter for an additional cost.
