Carisma's GT10RS On-road DTM Lineup

By: Tim Gluth

Scale realism isn’t just for off-road machines.

My recent chat with Ivan Cheung of Carisma RC (RC Newb Podcast: Episode 32) gave me an excuse to browse Carisma’s lineup of radio-controlled cars. Not that I needed any prodding, but lately my attention has been turned to off-road vehicles, and I have missed out on some exciting, stylish on-road machines. The most-recent are a series of 1/10-scale vehicles that are based off of 1:1 DTM race cars. I have been quite impressed with the level of detail and attention that Carisma has put into previous on-road models and was eager to learn more about this line of machines.

Each vehicle in this GT10RS line is ready-to-run (RTR) and is based on the same chassis which features a four-wheel drive (shaft) system that is powered by a 3000KV brushless motor. The receiver and ESC are an all-in-one system, so you minimize the amount of on-chassis components with that move. Full metal differential gears are a standard (and welcome) sight, along with oil-filled front and rear shocks, and full ball bearings throughout. The chassis and interior components are packed neatly within the confines of the chassis, reducing any exterior visibility of wires or plugs. If that sounds like a thing of beauty, wait until you see the body shell(s) in this fleet.

Seven vehicles make up the GT10RS lineup. With body styles licensed from Mercedes-AMG, BMW, Audi, and Subaru, the ultimate choice of what vehicle to rip around the track is up to you. If you don’t have a personal preference, you honestly can’t go wrong picking one over the other. Each of these 1/10 bodies has been meticulously crafted to feature the finest of details that you’d find on theIr 1:1 counterparts. Body elements such as a front splitter, side-view mirrors, a rear spoiler, scale radio antenna, and more can be seen on each of these models. Along with these molded and bolted-on details are authentic, licensed decals, making these machines look just like real-world race cars. If that wasn’t enough detail for you, LED lights are included, giving these cars a menacing look in darkness.

Rounding out these RTR machines is an included 2.4GHz radio system. The FHSS transmitter features adjustable steering travel, proportional steering, as well as steering and throttle trim controls.
