A Toy for the Trail: New Bright's DashCam 1/14 Jeep Trailcat

By: Tim Gluth

FPV hits the toy aisle with this off-road machine.

If you’re out and about, cruising the toy aisles at your local Walmart in search of “scale accessories” for your trail rig, or perhaps a toy-grade R/C vehicle to modify, keep an eye out for another new off-road machine from New Bright.

Along with their Vaughn Gittin Jr. edition “Brocky” Ford Bronco, the well-known toy maker has released an FPV-equipped radio-controlled crawler, sporting the body style of Jeep’s “Trailcat” concept vehicle. The body on this 1/14-scale crawler is worth the purchase price, but the added FPV aspect is unique to the world of non-hobby R/C. As I’ve outlined before, my personal adventure with FPV is just beginning, and any model which includes FPV seems to draw my attention quickly.

New Bright DashCam Jeep Trailcat R/C Crawler Features

  • 2.4 GHz Technology
  • Internal Antenna
  • 4x4 Extreme-Flex Spring Suspension
  • Dash-Mounted Video Camera for FPV Experience
  • Includes Headset for FPV
  • Real-Time WiFi Video Streaming to Smart Device*
  • Still Photo & Video Capture Smart Device* required
  • Control Vehicle using your Smart Device* (when not in FPV mode)
  • Control Using Radio Transmitter only

This vehicle piqued my interest to the point where I did pick one up and am giving it a throughout shakedown and review. Priced at $59.99 and available at Walmart, this is an interesting vehicle to play around with and perhaps, get kids interested in FPV and the R/C hobby overall.
