Young Pilot, Kal Reifsnyder Joins Team Futaba

By: Tim Gluth

The talent level at Team Futaba is at an all-time high. Not only have they signed a number of talented FPV quadcopter pilots, but they’ve been stacking the deck with traditional airplane and helicopter pilots as well. Their latest team member, Kal Reifsnyder, is another addition to their winged side of the house.

At only 13 years of age, Kal has been involved with R/C flight since he was two years old. By age three, he was honing his skills with the RealFlight simulator. In the years that have followed, Kal has taken to the skies with his own aircraft, racking up event and tournament wins across the United States.

Kal’s first experience competing at IMAC came in March 2011. He was just seven years old and finished 7th out of ten competitors.

But it wouldn’t be long before Kal climbed to the top of the rankings. At the 2013 Spring Classic, he earned 1st Place Sportsman and 2nd Place Freestyle honors. From there, his achievements have rivaled those of pilots with many more years at the sticks...

“I’m super excited to join team Futaba,” Kal says. He names the Futaba 18SZ as his primary radio and chooses the BLS177SVS.Bus2 as his favorite servo. “I love the feel of the 18SZ,” he says. “I’m also amazed at the ease of programming with the 18SZ. I can’t wait to compete with this setup.”
