A Revamped 2024 Rally Car Lineup from Traxxas

By: Tim Gluth

No matter what, rally cars will always manage to grab my attention. There's something about their styling and performance that always piques my interest. Traxxas is no stranger to the rally scene, having offered R/C rally cars in a variety of scales for several years.

Recently, they've been rolling out a revamped lineup of models featuring brushless motors and their "clipless" body mounting system. I'm happy to report that their 1/10-scale rally car options have also received these updates.

Two New Options for R/C Rally Car Fun

The BL-2S platform appears to be the new entry-level power option for many of Traxxas' vehicles, and it's made its way to the rally car platform. Removing brushed motors from the picture, the Traxxas Ford Fiesta 4x4 BL-2S offers a great package in terms of both performance and durability. Pop in a 2S LiPo battery pack, and you're off and running.

While the main selling point for this car is its standard 3300kv brushless power plant, another selling point is its "clipless" body mounting system. No more hunting for body clips after a gnarly wreck. Just snap the body in place and hit the gas. When you need to remove the body, four under-body press-and-release clips give you quick access to the car's internals.

Understanding that these cars will see quite a bit of action, Traxxas has equipped the Ford Fiesta BL-2S Rally Car with Extreme Heavy Duty components including suspension arms and wheel hubs.

If you're a hobbyist who wants to run even more power, Traxxas has introduced its Ford Fiesta 4x4 VXL Brushless Rally Car to the mix. In addition to the clipless body mounting and extra-durable chassis components, the VXL sports a 3500kv Velineon brushless motor and Velineon VXL-3S ESC, capable of handling 3S LiPo power.

Apart from color, there aren't many external differences between the BL-2S Rally and the VXL Rally.
