The Traxxas 4-TEC 2.0 is Now Available without a Body (and with a Brushless Motor)
Traxxas revived their 4-TEC platform earlier this year by rolling it out in style. Their Ford GT (1/10) Supercar is truly a thing of beauty and replicates the body lines and contours of the 1:1 Ford GT beautifully. While beautiful, both visually and technically, there was one area of the car which left me scratching my head.
The base motor for this vehicle was a brushless powerplant. With the amazing, art-like body which sat atop the chassis screaming “speed”, why not give it a heart which matches that pace? Well, fellow speed-freaks, your prayers have been answered. Somewhat.
The Traxxas 4-TEC platform can now be purchases in a bodiless configuration with either a brushed or brushless motor option. Both chassis options come packed with features and are ready for most standard 200mm bodies.
Outside of the different powerplants, both chassis configurations share a number of features, such as a 2.4GHz radio system (Traxxas TQ), waterproof/water resistant electronics, full-time all-wheel-drive, and more. The brushless chassis also gains the Traxxas Stability Management system to keep this 70+mph (estimated) land-rocket headed in the right direction.
In addition to the power differences, the brushless 4-TEC 2.0 chassis is listed as being roughly 4 inches longer than the brushed version. After reviewing some of the photos, I'm guessing that this difference comes from some of the adjustable areas on both chassis.
