The 2017 Futaba/O.S. Nitro Challenge
Off-Road R/C racing hits the Midwest, July 27 - 30
When the weather heats up this summer, the only thing hotter may be the on-track action at radio-controlled races across the globe. If you live in the Midwestern United States and feel like venturing to St. Louis, there is a 4-day event that’s worth checking out.
The 2017 Futaba/O.S. Speed Nitro Challenge will take place from July 27 through the 30th at the St. Louis Dirt Burners R/C Raceway. Two days of open practice kick off the event, with additional on-track activity such as “B Main”, “A Main”, and “Dash for Cash” races.
While this is a primarily nitro-focused event, there are classes available for electric buggies.

The Nitro Challenge kicks off its second decade on July 27 at the St. Louis Dirt Burners R/C Raceway. Two days of open practice will be followed by qualifying rounds that begin Friday night, July 28. Drivers can enter in eight divisions. Every competitor gets a free gift — but the really BIG honors must be earned.
All “A” Main finishers and the top six “B” Main finishers receive impressive trophies. Prizes for the top three in the Nitro Classes include O.S. engines, a Futaba 4PX radio system and Futaba high-voltage servos. Tickets will also be available for a raffle to win merchandise donated by event sponsors.
Sunday, July 30, opens with a 7-lap Pro Class “Dash for Cash”. The results will determine starting positions for the first “A” Main — and the winner gets cold, hard cash! Pro Class Buggy and Truggy “A” Main finishers are also eligible for cash prizes. The 11th annual Futaba/O.S. Nitro Challenge gives everyone a shot at racing for fame and fortune. There’s even a nitro buggy class for drivers age 40 and above.
