Review: Pro-Line Class 0 BFGoodrich Krawler T/A KX 1.9" Rock Terrain Truck Tires
Some wheels and tires go together like peanut butter and jelly. From looks to overall fit, some pairs were just made for each other. Such is the case for Pro-Line's Class 0 BFGoodrich Krawler T/A KX 1.9" Rock Terrain Truck Tires ($35.95 per pair). One of my current projects called for a rugged tire that could tackle an array of terrain while still appearing "scale".
These smaller-diameter tires might look "off" compared to the size of standard, larger-diameter tires. Still, I was curious to see whether or not the smaller size would impact overall performance. Many thanks to Pro-Line for sending me a set of their Class 0 BFGoodrich Krawler T/A KX tires to review. Let's take 'em for a spin, shall we?
Installing Pro-Line's Class 0 BFGoodrich Krawler T/A KX 1.9" Rock Terrain Truck Tires
Mounting any style of R/C tire can be a hit or miss affair. Thankfully, I had a simple installation process with this set of tires due to Pro-Line's beadlock wheels and tires being built with each other in mind. Depending on your wheel selection, your mileage may vary; however, I'm confident in stating that any Pro-Line wheel will mount up to these tires in a near-effortless fashion. Assembling my wheels of choice for this pairing (Pro-Line's Carbine 1.9" Bead-Loc Duallies) took very little time to complete, and I was ready to mount them to my Element RC Enduro chassis in less than an hour.s
The tools required to install these tires will vary based on your wheel choice. In most cases, you should be able to get the job done with a 2.0mm hex driver and a wheel nut driver.
Note: Since plans tend to change, especially when they're plans that I've made, I switched out model platforms (Redcat GEN8 P.A.C.K. to Element RC Enduro) for this build mid-stream, which is why you might notice two different chassis in my review photos.
Ready for Adventure: On the trail with Pro-Line's Class 0 BFGoodrich Krawler T/A KX 1.9" Rock Terrain Truck Tires
Sitting side-by-side with other R/C vehicles in my collection, the smaller diameter of these crawler tires is glaringly apparent. Not only are they shorter, but they're also significantly narrower than the tires that I'm used to running. While all of the wheel and tire combos that I'm running now are 1.9", that only addresses the wheel diameter and not the tire size itself.
For the first shakedown of these tires, I ventured to one of my favorite crawling spots…my front yard. Like many Pro-Line crawler tires, the Class 0 BFGoodrich Krawler T/A KX set is available in either G8 or Predator compound. I selected the softer, stickier Predator rubber for this review and am glad that I did. I will point out that the color of these tires appears to be darker than other Predator sets that I've run in the past. I appreciate that from a visual standpoint and love that I'm not sacrificing performance for appearance.
Speaking of performance, I'm blown away by what these tires can do. My Element RC Enduro Sendero isn't a heavy rig, especially when comparing it to other vehicles in my garage. At times, I view that lighter weight as a hurdle that needs to be overcome. However, you wouldn't know that the Sendero was at a weight disadvantage given how smoothly and cleanly it motors over obstacles with these Class 0 tires. They may be smaller than most, but they sure do pack a punch.

What's the Verdict: Are Pro-Line's Class 0 BFGoodrich Krawler T/A KX 1.9" Rock Terrain Truck Tires the right fit for your rig?
Although these tires have a smaller stature than other 1.9" crawler tires, they aren't pushovers. I'd rank these tires among some of the best that I've used in terms of performance and visual appeal. While it's true that I might not pick them to run on a rig like my Redcat GEN8 Scout, I feel that they fit the bill perfectly for my Sendero Dodge Powerwagon build.
If you're looking for a tire that's a bit outside the norm, or you want to get as "scale" as possible for your next trail rig build, I'd recommend Pro-Line's Class 0 BFGoodrich Krawler T/A KX 1.9" Rock Terrain Truck Tires. Visit prolineracing.com to learn more and to buy a set for your rig.
