Review: H-Tech Custom Products Front and Rear Aluminum Bumpers for the Traxxas TRX-4 2021 Ford Bronco
One of my favorite R/C crawlers of the year is the Traxxas TRX-4 2021 Ford Bronco. Out of the box, you might not think that there's much to improve upon with this rig; however, there are several ways that you can customize this rig and make it your own. Since I walked out of my local hobby shop with my TRX-4 Bronco, I had a few thoughts about personalizing this machine, but nothing was concrete. Then I came across H-Tech Custom Products.
This "new to me" aftermarket R/C brand boasts an impressive lineup of scale add-ons for various R/C models, including the 2021 Bronco. Among the upgrades offered by H-Tech are its front and rear aluminum bumpers. These direct replacements for the stock plastic bumpers provide a unique, premium look that closely matches the bumper style of the 1:1 Ford Bronco.
Highlights of H-Tech Custom Products Front and Rear Aluminum Bumpers for the Traxxas TRX-4 2021 Ford Bronco
Sold individually, the front and rear aluminum bumpers from H-Tech Custom Products offer a simple way to change up the appearance of your Traxxas TRX-4 2021 Ford Bronco without much effort. The front bumper has a clean design that's free from brush guards or overdone details.
Depending on the body color of your rig, you can choose the color of the tow shackles, which feature an anodized red or yellow/gold finish. The smooth, clean design of the front bumper is an excellent fit for this modern off-roading machine.
The rear bumper, also minimalist in its design, features a surface with "no-slip" areas and a slightly more angular profile than the stock bumper. If you've come to rely on the trailer hitch port on the stock bumper, that piece has been removed; however, you can add an LED light (included) to the license plate bracket for a true-to-life visual effect.
Installing H-Tech Products Front and Rear Aluminum Bumpers for the Traxxas TRX-4 2021 Ford Bronco
Both the front and rear bumpers are installed using a combination of existing and aftermarket hardware. The front bumper mounts up using the existing mounting frame. After you've removed the stock bumper, install the two tow shackle braces prior to securing the front bumper assembly to the mounting bracket.
The rear bumper utilizes a custom-made mounting bracket that allows you to select the height of your new rear bumper.
If you're running an unmodified body, the bumper will need to be mounted to the lowest mounting holes. Once that has been installed, you can install the new bumper bracket into the chassis rails and secure it.
Due to the flares on each side of the rear bumper, I encountered some difficulty when inserting the mounting screws into the chassis rails. I'd suggest using a hex driver with a pivoting head when working on this area of your rig.
What's the Verdict; Are H-Tech Custom Products' Front and Rear Aluminum Bumpers a Worthwhile Upgrade for the Traxxas TRX-4?
My TRX-4 2021 Bronco might be my "most customized" vehicle that I own, and the H-Tech Aluminum Bumper upgrades might be my favorite enhancement to date. They bring a sleek, sophisticated style to this rig without losing the rugged off-road spirit that lives within the Bronco.
Priced at $59.99 for the front bumper and $61.90 for the rear bumper, these are two upgrades that I'd highly recommend for any Traxxas TRX-4 2021 Bronco owner.
