Pro-Line TimberLine Soft-Top Installation and Review
Pro-Line, makers of some unique and well-built aftermarket RC upgrades, provided me with one of their latest scale accessories to test out, the TimberLine Soft-Top for Axial’s SCX10 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited Rubicon models. With minimal installation time, this is a great way to add a new look to your trail rig, and still have the ability to remove the top (through the use of Velcro strips) if you'd prefer to have an open-air RC experience.

The installation of this product is simple and straight-forward. First, clean the roll cage areas where you will attach the Velcro contact strips. Even if your rig has been sitting on the shelf, giving it a quick wipe-down with a damp cloth with ensure you’re working with a clean surface.

Next, attach the Velcro contact strips to your SCX10 roll cage using an adhesive (Pro-Line recommends tire glue or hot glue) or some other fastener. I didn’t have much luck with tire glue and opted to try a hot glue gun approach. While this held the strips in place, I wasn’t happy with my original placement of the Velcro, and removed and re-attached the strips, shifting them towards the inside of the vehicle (minimizing visual “overhang” when the soft-top is attached). To assist with this adjustment, I used zip-ties to secure the strips to the cage. This is both a low-cost and highly-adjustable option, if I choose to make further placement changes in the future.
After your contact strips have been secured, line up the TimberLine Soft-Top and place it onto your Jeep’s roll cage. Make sure you pull it as tight and snug as possible around the rear corners of the cage, ensuring the best fit possible. After some use and “break in” time, the cover/top should gain flexibility and should fit the contours of the cage with greater ease.
With that final step complete, you’re ready to roll with your “new-look” radio-controlled ride. Given the durable material that this accessory is made from, it should withstand the wildest outdoor trails and courses that you can find, all-the-while adding an attractive 1:1 feature to your scale trail rig.
