Pro-Line Big Bore Scaler Shock Shakedown [Video]

By: Tim Gluth

To date, I've spent more time at my workbench this year than behind an R/C controller. Still, with all of the kit builds, upgrade installs, and general maintenance that I've been doing, you have to find time to actually enjoy what you're working on...right? With my recent write-up of Pro-Line's Big Bore Scaler Shocks in the books, it was high time that I gave my Redcat Racing GEN8 Scout II a chance to stretch its suspension parts.

With the sun starting to set and the weather a bit cool, I decided against traveling to a remote location to shake down these shocks. Instead, I threw down some logs (some of which had a fun, slimy cover on them) and let the big dog eat. Between the Big Bore Shocks and the Pro-Line BFGoodrich KM3 1.9″ Predator Rock Terrain Tires, and the overall awesomeness that is the GEN8 platform, I found myself grinning from ear to ear as my rig made its way up and over logs and other yard obstacles.

While this test is far from extreme, it did give me a glimpse into how these shocks affect the overall handling of my trail machine. From what I can tell, the Big Bore Scaler Shocks don't miss a beat when it comes to smooth and consistent performance. Any worries I had with replacing the stock GEN8 shocks were wiped away after the first crawl over the logs.
