One Will Rule Them All: Horizon Hobby & Spektrum Tease Upcoming Release
It's teaser time, folks! Horizon Hobby has an intriguing post on its Instagram page touting the upcoming release of something new from Spektrum. The post features a video with several types of terrain; including dunes, trails, skate parks, lakes, parking lots, drag strips, and on-road tracks, along with the text "Soon One Will Rule Them All".
As an interested viewer of this teaser post, I'm inclined to think it's centered around a radio release of either a transmitter, receiver, or both. Speaking from experience, my collection of ready-to-run (RTR) transmitters has reached critical mass, and the ability to wrangle a selection of my collection with one core radio is ideal.
That said, a multi-model-memory radio isn't new, so I'm not quite sure what the next level of thinking might be if this new product offers something beyond that. Perhaps it could offer an array of controls (switches, knobs, buttons, etc) that would lend themselves to various types of radio-controlled driving, whether it be on-road, off-road, dragster, basher, or motorbike.
I've recently been experimenting with a radio that has more features than I know what to do with; RadioMaster's MT12. The price, build quality, and available features have been a refreshing change from what I've been used to, but the learning curve can be a bit steep. In fact, I'm no-where near where I need to be in understanding what that radio can do.
If Horizon Hobby is able to capture the essence of an MT12-like radio but reduce the learning curve, they may have something special. Until an official release announcement is made, we're left with our imaginations.
