I have secretly been on a bit of a monster truck kick as of late. To be honest, that “kick” has only been within the past 5 days. Since I saw Rich, of 2RCProductions, post photos and unboxing video of his latest addition, an HPI Wheely King, I’ve felt the sudden urge to take a closer look at these mega machines. Life has an interesting way of opening your eyes to something before you even realize you want to look at it, which makes today’s news from Losi a little more interesting.
The new Losi Monster Truck XL is a massive, ⅕-scale, 4-wheel drive monster truck that is based on the existing Losi DBXL Desert Buggy chassis. This gas/nitro-fueled machine is sure to cause a stir at your local bash spot. Given it’s impressive size (just in chassis alone), you can’t help but notice this truck, even when it’s standing still. Even more impressive than the exterior are the features that you’ll find underneath the body.
Powered by a 29CC, 2-stroke engine, this brute looks to plow just about anything that gets in its way. Big bore shocks and Losi Monster Claw tires help cushion impact from jumps and tricks, while the 2.4GHz radio system with AVC (Active Vehicle Control) will make sure you’re in command at all times.
Size-and-price-wise, this new truck is on-par with the equally-massive Traxxas X-Maxx, only with gas power vs an all-electric system.
While not a budget R/C truck by any means, this new monster truck carries a hefty price tag of $1,299.99. If you’re committed to big-time fun with a large-scale radio-controlled rig, this may be the machine for you.
