Losi Lets Loose their Latest Creation: The LST 3XL-E 1/8 Monster Truck
The time has come for Losi to reveal their super-secret, yet highly promoted collaboration with Trek Bikes. While some folks, such as myself, were anticipating a new R/C scaler or even a two-wheeled vehicle, this team-up was only skin deep.
Teams from Losi and Trek met up at the Little Switzerland ski and mountain bike course in Slinger, WI to have some two-wheeled, and four-wheeled fun. This was to be the ultimate shake-down and proving ground for Losi’s latest creation, the LST 3XL-E 4wd Monster Truck.
In size alone, this ⅛-scale beast is a true monster of a truck, putting on on-par with the massive Traxxas X-Maxx in terms of dimensions and design. After seeing what the Losi team put this machine through on the mountain bike course, it looks like a true basher that, despite its size, is very nimble when going airborne.
As far as features are concerned, the LST 3XL-E is packed. A low center-of-gravity chassis and massive shocks provide the foundation for a fun and durable radio-controlled machine. At its heart, a 2200kv brushless motor provides the power needed to propel it across land and into the air. Add optional gearing and you’ve got a machine that can achieve speeds in-excess of 50 mph.
With massive power under the hood comes the need for massive juice to keep it rolling. The LST 3XL-E is capable of handling two 2S or 3S LiPo battery packs. Waterproof/water-resistant electronics are included throughout the internal design, making this a truck that can handle any type of weather or natural elements.
The body design is mean and minimal, making this a eye-catching monster truck. What I thought to be a tell-tale sign of R/C scaler roof rails in one of the teaser videos was actually the molded roofline of this truck.
