Jamie Robertson Takes Flight with Futaba

By: Tim Gluth

Team Futaba has added yet another established pilot to their fold. Five-time XFC winner, Jamie Robertson is the newest member of Futaba’s Air Team. After catching the radio-controlled “bug” from his dad, Jim, Jamie has been full-throttle in the world of R/C helicopters ever since.

Born and raised in Claremore, Oklahoma, Jamie caught the flying bug from his father, Jim, a lifelong RC enthusiast. Their love for the hobby was cemented when they both used Great Planes RealFlight RC Flight Simulator to fine-tune their flying skills.

“That’s when I first became seriously interested in RC. I got my first XFC invite in 2008, and I’ve been hooked on competitive flying ever since,” said Jamie.

During his career, Jamie has won five XFC events, five Zone Knockouts and two 3D Masters/Global 3D events. This summer, he will represent the U.S. at the F3N World Championships in Poland. When he isn’t winning world championships, Jamie is an instructor at Freestyle 3D school with fellow pilot Todd Bennett. At each two-day course, the pilots teach small groups of students how to fly 3D and learn the fundamentals.

“I’m so thankful for the opportunities I’ve had and all the great friends I’ve made in the hobby. I’m looking forward to many more great years ahead,” said Jamie.

Jamie looks forward to bringing his “A” game with the proven reliability of Futaba equipment. He currently uses the 18SZ transmitter, R7003SB receiver, BLS275SV cyclic servo, BLS276SV rudder servo and the CGY750 V2 flybarless control system.
