HPI’s Latest Large-scale Releases: Two Baja Kraken Buggies

By: Tim Gluth

Continuing their avalanche of vehicle announcements from the 2016 International Toy Fair, HPI not only unveiled a new small-scale vehicle in the Formula Q32 and a number of 1/10 scale on and off-road machines. They also have two new radio-controlled buggies that will satisfy those with a need for large-scale R/C car action.

The Baja Kraken Sidewinder X5 buggy is a collaboration between HPI and Kraken RC that pairs the Baja 5B buggy with the Kraken Sidewinder X5 roll cage conversion in one package. This nitro-powered sand rail can get 30-minutes of run time from a full tank, and features a number of option parts already included, such as upgraded driveshafts, hex hubs, and more.

The second 1/5 scale machine that HPI took the wraps off of is their Baja 5B TSK-b Class 1 racing buggy. This off-road buggy features many of the same upgraded components as the Baja Kraken Sidewinder X5, but with a slightly different, edgier design and graphics. Also nitro-powered, this vehicle is capable of the same 30-minutes of runtime as the Baja Kraken Sidewinder X5.
