While I didn't set any official New Year's resolutions for 2026, one thing that I want to try out (again) is R/C flight. If you're in the same boat…or hangar, FMS has a new, beginner-focused model that looks like an excellent option for anyone looking to make their hobby adventures airborne.

Their 800mm Beaver Radio-Controlled Plane is a scaled-down replica of the DHC-2 Beaver, a 1:1 airplane known for its short takeoff and landing capabilities. With two versions available, plus the capability to be equipped with FPV, this R/C airplane looks like a nice model for first-time pilots.

Featuring foam construction for the fuselage and wing, the 800mm Beaver features fixed landing gear (two front wheels, one rear wheel), easy-to-remove wings, and a snap-on battery cover to make setup and teardown easy for hobbyists of any skill level.

Powered by a brushless 3850KV motor, the 800mm Beaver should have no trouble getting up into the air and staying there. With its relatively compact size (a wingspan of 800mm/31.5 inches), this aircraft should be a great park flyer and require minimal runway length.

The 800mm Beaver is available in either PNP or RTF versions for added flexibility. If you have your own radio system that you want to use with this plane, the PNP option might be your best bet. If you'd prefer to start with a setup that's ready to fly right out of the box, the RTF option, with its included gyro) is the one to choose.

Along with these two model variants, two color schemes are available for this airplane: a red, white, and black option and a yellow, white, and red option with U.S. Air Force markings.
