A Nostalgia Hit for the Ages: Built Fast's 3D Printed RC Batwing
I've seen some amazing things in the R/C hobby, but this might be one of the coolest things to date. As a long-time fan of the 1989 Batman movie, there's one fictional aircraft that will stop me in my tracks: the Batwing. Although it didn't have much screen time, it made a lasting impression on then-9-year-old me, and it's one of my favorite items in Batman's arsenal.
While I haven't thought about the Batwing for some time, the YouTube algorithm clearly wanted to jog my memory as I was presented with R/C builder Kyle/Built Fast's "scale RC Batwing" project.
Faithful to the movie version of the Batwing, Built Fast's version has a few slight modifications to enable this 3D-printed aircraft to take to the sky. Powered by two brushless EDF motors, this maiden flight was both a proof-of-concept and a realization of Kyle's dream, and it's awesome to see a hobbyist have a successful launch of their project.
