Will Tamiya's Grasshopper II Make a Return in 2017?

As I was researching a few of the upcoming re-releases from Tamiya (The Bigwig & Candy Green Grasshopper) another retro ride popped up on the radar. From the looks of this Tower Hobbies product placeholder, it appears that the Grasshopper II will be making a return In 2017.

Outside of a “Late Mar” release date and a sale price of $99.99, no other details are available regarding this model. Based on photos and details of the original (which first appeared in 1988), Tamiya’s “The Grasshopper II” featured a sleek, refined buggy body design which was mounted on top of a Hornet chassis. The included motor was a brushed, 380-size, but could be upgraded to handle a 540-size power plant.

If this placeholder page is true, this will mark the latest in a long line of classic model re-releases from Tamiya, a brand that appears to be enjoying taking trips down memory lane, much to the delight of their fans and R/C enthusiasts worldwide.

With the Nuremberg Toy Fair taking place next week, I’m hoping additional details around this model will be released (if it is indeed going to become a reality).
